Sista ångtåget på gamla Haparandabanan - The last steam train on the old Haparanda line (bestnr TAM36)
400 km Luleå–Haparanda was the longest steam trains trip of 2010. It have been very few steam train events in the region the last years and all the seats were sold-out one month before the trip. More than 500 people took the chance to go down the "the old Haparanda line" before closure and replacement with a new railway line. The arrangement was made by Bergslagen railway society (BJs) together with Malmbanans vänner (the friends of the Iron-ore line). Teknikarv.se together with Eisenbahn-Romantik followed the train with five photographers.

A film from the applauded steam train special on the old Haparanda line the summer of 2010, from Luleå to Haparanda and back. 400 km with double-header class B engines Nos. 1037 and 1085 and 15 cars from Bergslagen railway society and the friends of the Iron-ore line. The last steam train on the old Haparanda line had more than 500 passengers. Even more spectators closed up at the stations. Bergslagen railway society together with the friends of the Iron-ore line arranged "the last steam train" due to the closer of the old Haparanda line via Karungi and the upcoming replacement with a new electrified line between Kalix and Haparanda. The locals fills most of the train, but one car was reserved for members from the SJK (Swedish Railway Club).
It was now two years since steam engine B No. 1037 was brought out from its old strategic reserve storage in Sandsträsk on the Iron ore line. After overhaul it was know temporarily back in the region for one long steam train trip.
Using five photographers we covered the trip both from the train and from car. The film follows the trains from Karlsvikshyttan (outside of Luleå), via Boden, Morjärv and Karungi to Haparanda. Then we follow the trip back to Boden. We have been at many of the stations; Karlsvikshyttan, Boden, Niemisel, Morjärv, Vitvattnet, Lappträsk, Bodträsk, Karungi and Haparanda, and many places along the line. The filming is made together with Südwest Fernsehen/Eisenbahn-Romantik, Germany.

The DVD is subtitled in Swedish and English. Swedish narration, cover and menus. Both subtitles and narration can be switched on and off independently.

Region-free DVD. Playable in computers and PAL-compatible DVD-players world-wide.
